A small airplane crashed into Lake Tahoe on Saturday, August 25. The single-engine aircraft took off from a nearby airport only to crash moments later into the south shore of the lake. Several people were killed in the accident.
The airplane is registered to Francisco J. Delamora who is from Fresno. He is owner of a trucking company, Jdm Transport Inc. and decided to take a personal trip to Lake Tahoe for one day. He flew with his wife, his seven-year old daughter, and two of his close friends. He was planning on flying back home the same day. Sadly, these wrongful death accidents prevented them from making it back home.
No comments or confirmations have been stated yet about the victims of the plane accident. Much of the plane was destroyed by the wreckage of the fire. Identifying the people on the plane will be difficult because of the fire. Officials are waiting for positive identifications to be made before announcing anything to the public.
Some people who saw the crash said the aircraft was having some engine problems once it took off. The plane began to dip forward right when it was trying to turn north from Lake Tahoe airport. As the plane began to dip forward, it headed straight into the wooded area near South Lake Tahoe in California. After the crash, a one-acre fire was ignited which took more than 90 minutes to put out.
The fire caused by the crashed aircraft was quickly put out because of the multiple agencies working together. The South Lake Tahoe Mayor, Clair Fortier, released a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the families of those that perished in this tragic accident.”
According to documents, the same small plane was also involved in a 2005 crash in Florida. However, no injuries were inflicted in the 2005 accident and the plane had been the property of a different owner. Whether or not these accidents were caused by a malfunction of the airplane or problems with product liability, the deaths of the victims are irreversible. Since the plane was destroyed in the wreckage, it will be hard to figure out what went wrong and what caused the crash.
It will take months before the investigative agency, NTSB, will be able to find a probable cause for the accident. Families of the victims must be grieving the loss of their loved one as they ache for any reason as to what would take away the lives of these people.
Accidents are not just limited to automobiles and road ways. Wrongful death accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. The victims of this plane crash could have been subject to a product liability or a malfunction of the product due to a manufacturer’s negligence.
