Man Trying to Prevent Stranger Taking His Vehicle is Dragged and Killed in Lawndale
LAWNDALE, CA (December 3, 2018) – A man who tried to prevent a stranger from taking his vehicle died in Lawndale in the evening on Saturday. The December 1 accident occurred on Redondo Beach Boulevard in the 4400 block.
The time was roughly 8:30 p.m.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the man had walked over to a business and left his vehicle running. As he was approaching the business, a person entered his car and attempted to drive off in it.
The man who had left the car running gripped a passenger door, reports say, and he was dragged for roughly two hundred yards. He then fell off the car.
Respondents arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. He had suffered injuries to his head. He died sometime after. The name of the victim has not yet been reported.
Investigators are examining the details and information.
