Two people were killed in an accident on Sunday morning in the San Gorgonio Pass. According to the police reports, a pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into a second vehicle.
California Highway Patrol responded to the accident at 11:43 a.m. The crash took place on the westbound lanes of Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road.
Three of the passengers from the vehicles suffered major injuries and were taken to the hospital. Four riders were pinned in the cars and their injuries ranged from major to severe. One of those unfortunate passengers was airlifted to the hospital, and the other three were transported by ambulance.
There were also some animals involved, so animal control arrived on the scene to take care of two injured dogs.
The identities of the victims have not been stated at this point, nor have the conditions of the surviving passengers. The cause of the accident is still being investigated; however, a witness explained to CHP that a blue sport utility vehicle and a white Toyota truck were racing prior to the accident.
The truck is likely the one that caused the crash, but the SUV vehicle and driver have not been found yet.
