1 woman was killed and 2 others hospitalized following a 2-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a car at a busy intersection in Paramount early Saturday morning, Nov. 25th. The fatal crash occurred just before 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Orange Avenue after Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lakewood Station received reports of a collision between a Honda Civic and a GMC pickup truck. Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighter-paramedics arrived on scene to find 1 woman, a passenger in the Honda Civic, unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office later identified her as 47-year old Amalia Rosas of Compton. The drivers of both vehicles were men, and each was transported by ambulance to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators were trying to determine who was at fault in the incident and whether speed or alcohol was a factor. Detectives suspected that 1 vehicle ran a red light, though they did not say which.
