Vehicle Crashes into Wilmington Apartment, Smashing Kitchen
WILMINGTON, CA (January 21, 2019) – A Wilmington apartment’s kitchen was smashed by a vehicle Saturday afternoon, which caused significant damage. The January 19 accident occurred on North Gulf Avenue in the 1000 block, Margaret Stewart said. Stewart is a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The time was roughly 1:10 p.m.
Reports say that a vehicle smashed into the apartment located on the ground floor of a two-story structure. The vehicle—which has not been described—crashed through a wall and came to a stop in the kitchen of the apartment. It is not known from reports if anyone in the apartment was at home at the time of the crash, but according to authorities, no one was injured.
A team from Urban Search and Rescue arrived on scene to construct something to prop up the structure, which was comprised, so that people who live in the apartment building could stay in their apartments. Reports say that officials from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety will examine the building’s damaged structure.
It is not known from reports who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It has not yet been reported if anyone else had been traveling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Why the crash occurred is not known from reports. Investigators are examining the details, information, and evidence to find out what led to the accident, and why it happened.
