Wrong-way Collision Kills Woman on 10 Freeway in West Covina
WEST COVINA, CA (December 24, 2018) – A collision early Monday morning in West Covina on the 10 Freeway killed one person and injured another. The December 24 accident occurred on the freeway’s eastbound side, close to Azusa Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The time was roughly 3:00 a.m.
Reports say that a driver was traveling the wrong way on the freeway. Karie Mendoza, a sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, said a crash happened a short time after CHP received calls about the driver.
Reports say a Mazda sedan had been heading the wrong way and crashed into a vehicle, described as a small SUV. The driver of the Mazda—identified only as a woman—was pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The person who had been driving the SUV—identified as a man—was transported to a hospital, according to Mendoza. The types of injuries suffered by the victim have not yet been reported.
