VW’s electric e-Golf Runs Like a Gas Car

Most are aware of the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal. In view of that, the introduction of the VW electric e-Golf is welcome. The car performs well; on par level with a gas vehicle. Volkswagen has been testing electric vehicles since the 1980’s. The VW’s e-Golf is among over a dozen electric cars being introduced this year. Among them are the Chevy Spark, the Ford Focus, the Kia Soul, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Smart EV and the Mercedes B-Class.
The range, distance the car is able to drive between charges, is a promised 83 miles for the e-Golf, under the Kia, Fiat, Mercedes, and Leaf. It is a mid priced vehicle for an electric car.
Volkswagen has been embroiled in many legal battles regarding the illegal installation of software on its vehicles costing the company billions of dollars.
Moving foward into the market of electric cars will cost upwards of $100 million in 2016.
VW executives said that the goal of the production of the electric car was to build one that had speed, handled well, could carry five persons, and carry luggage. It needed to appeal to both the young and the baby boomers.
The car they have created is a success! It is fun, quiet, and smooth riding.
It is on par level with other Golfs. The dashboard is convenient and easy and easy to reach.
The gas pedal responds in a timely fashion and the brakes are quick to respond.
Up to German standards, the car is durable and easy to ride in and drive.
A fast charging system is available which can cut charge time from 10 hours to 30 minutes.
