Visalia, CA (August 15, 2023) – In the early hours of Monday, August 14, a devastating rollover accident on Highway 198 in Visalia resulted in the loss of three lives. 23-year-old Marialuz Zarate, 30-year-old Joshua Diaz and 30-year-old Cody Robison were all identified as the victims in the horrific accident.

The fatal incident occurred shortly before 4:00 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the highway, in close proximity to Plaza Drive. According to official statements from the California Highway Patrol, the catastrophe unfolded when a 2004 Ford F-350 pickup truck veered off the southern edge of the road under circumstances yet to be determined.
The driver of the pickup truck attempted to maneuver the vehicle back onto the road, but tragically lost control, leading the truck to veer off the northern edge of the road. This loss of control precipitated a series of violent rollovers, amplifying the severity of the accident.
2 of the Occupants of the Ford F-350 Weren’t Wearing Seat Belts
Compounding the tragedy, a male and a female occupant of the truck were forcefully ejected from the vehicle during the rollover sequence. It was revealed that neither of these individuals was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, which likely contributed to the grave outcome. In stark contrast, the right front passenger had been securely fastened by their seat belt.
Regrettably, Marialuz Zarate, Joshua Diaz and Cody Robison sustained catastrophic injuries as a result of the accident and succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
