Two-vehicle Collision on Valley Center Road in Valley Center Kills One Man
VALLEY CENTER, CA (April 3, 2019) – Two vehicles collided Sunday night in Valley Center, killing one man. The March 31 accident occurred on Valley Center Road, near the Lilac Road intersection and to the south of it.
The time was roughly at bit after 7:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say that a Chevrolet Silverado had been traveling southbound on Valley Center Road. The Chevrolet ovetook another vehicle—described as a Ford Fusion. The Chevrolet hit the front left area of the Ford.
The person who was driving the Chevrolet lost control of the vehicle, and it swerved off the road on the righthand side. The Chevrolet hit a fence, and continued traveling down an embankment. It then rolled over and hit another fence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, it was difficult to gain access to the driver in the Chevrolet because of how the vehicle landed, and its condition following the wreck. The driver died at the accident site. He was 52 years old and a resident of Escondido. His name has not been reported.
The person who was driving the Ford—identified as a girl 17 years old—and a passenger in the Ford—identified as a person 16 years old—were not hurt in the accident, reports say. The identities of the people who had been traveling in the Ford have not been reported.
Investigators are examining the details and evidence relating to the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, he or she is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol. The number is 858-637-3800.
