3 Men ID’ed as Victims Killed in Valley Center Crash
VALLEY CENTER, CA (February 14, 2019) – Miguel Angel Saravia, Carlos Bravo Serrano, and Cesar Daniel Nino were identified as the victims who were killed in a head-on crash in Valley Center on Tuesday morning. The February 12 accident occurred close to Harrah’s Resort Southern California.
The time was roughly 6:15 a.m.
Reports say the three men had been traveling in a pickup truck on Valley Center Road, a winding, rural road. The accident happened in an area between Paradise Creek and North Lake Wohlford Road.
A report from the Medical Examiner’s Office said that Saravia had been driving the F-150, heading south, when he attempted to pass another vehicle. The F-150 collided with a tow truck that had been heading north on Valley Center Road. The collision was head on.
Mark Latulippe, who is a public affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol, said the three men who were killed had not been wearing seat belts when the crash happened. A fourth person—identified as a man—had been traveling in the Ford’s front passenger seat when the crash occurred. He left the accident site, and officers found him later in Escondido at the house of a relative. The fourth man was later identified as Saravia’s brother. He told officers, Latulippe said, that he had left the crash because he did not have his cell phone.
The three men who died at the accident scene were all residents of Escondido. Saravia was 44 years old, Serrano was 30 years old, and Nino was 22 years old.
Respondents transported the person who had been driving the tow truck to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. Reports say the victim suffered injuries that were described as superficial. The identity of the tow truck driver—including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence—have not yet been reported.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the circumstances of the crash.
