Collision in Valley Center Kills Motorcyclist, Injures Three Other People
VALLEY CENTER, CA (July 8, 2019) – A collision in Valley Center in the afternoon on Sunday killed a motorcyclist and injured three other people. The July 7 incident occurred where Mirar De Valle Road and Valley Center Road intersect.
The time was roughly 4:10 p.m., according Kevin Smale. Smale is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a motorcycle was heading south on Valley Center Road and a Nissan Altima had been traveling eastbound on Mirar De Valle Road. The Nissan came to a stop where the two streets intersect, and then turned to the left onto Valley Center Road.
As the car was turning, a motorcycle hit its rear bumper on the left side. The force of the collision threw the rider from the motorcycle.
Responders arrived and took the motorcyclist to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased. He was identified only as 30 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported the occupants of the Nissan to hospitals. The injuries they suffered, which have not been described, were not thought to be life threatening.
The victims were identified as the driver, a man 39 years old; and two passengers, identified as a woman 42 years old, and a girl 3 years old. The child was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital.
No other details regarding the incident have been reported. Investigators are working to understand the circumstances and events that led to the crash.
