Police Release Photo of Hit-and-run Vehicle That Injured Two Children in Watts area of Los Angeles, CA

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 20, 2021) – Two eight-year-old children were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in Watts early in May. Los Angeles Police have released a photo of the vehicle that is suspected in the May 9 incident, and they are seeking help from the public.

The crash occurred on Compton Avenue near where 92nd Street intersects. The vehicle–described as a Chevrolet Cruze, maroon or black in color–had been heading south on Compton Avenue.

It struck the two children who had been walking across the street. The driver did not stop to help the two injured children, but left the scene at a fast speed, according to police.

Responders arrived and transported the two children to the hospital. Their condition was described as critical, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

On May 19, police released a photo of the vehicle that is suspected of having been involved in the hit-and-run crash that injured the children. Investigators are searching for the vehicle, and the suspect driver.
