Car accidents are often unavoidable occurrences with the potential to shatter lives. Usually they wreak havoc on unsuspecting victims. Sometimes they cause thousands of dollars’ worth of property damage. At their very worst, they are known to take lives.
While most car accidents are not intentional, they are almost always caused by negligence. Motorists who are negligent must be held accountable for their actions.

A 16-year-old girl who died after getting hit by one car and run over by another on New York Avenue on Friday evening was identified by police Monday as Tarsha Jackson of Northwest Washington.
D.C. police have said Jackson was struck about 6 p.m. Friday while crossing at First Street NW. Police said she was walking south to north, and was east of the crosswalk.
She was struck by a Pontiac Bonneville being driven east, police said. Moments later, police said she was run over by a tan Sport Utility Vehicle with District license plates. Police said the driver of the Bonneville, which had a green light, stopped; the driver of the SUV did not.
Jackson died about 2:15 p.m. Saturday at a local hospital. Police said they are looking for the driver of the SUV.
