Traveling east on Montezuma near Collwood Boulevard on his bicycle, a Chrysler SUV struck the bicyclist at about 3:30 p.m. A male in his 30’s driving the SUV in the same direction hit the bicyclist and the rear end of his bicycle in the bicycle lane. The impact ejected the bicyclist over the handle bars and onto the asphalt.
Paramedics and officials upon arrival pronounced the bicyclists dead on the scene.
Upon investigation, authorities determined that neither alcohol nor excessive speed were factors in the crash. The name of the bicyclist will be released as soon as his kin are notified.
The crash remains under investigation.
