Two Men Killed on 60 Freeway Truck Accident in South El Monte Identified
SOUTH EL MONTE, CA (September 10, 2018) – Two men died on September 2 when a truck crashed into a sedan that had been stopped on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte, and then fell off a bridge and erupted in flames.
The coroner’s office identified the two men as Kevin Lu, a 21-year-old resident of Walnut, and Rufino Mireles Ramirez, a 44-year-old resident of Fresno, according to Lt. Nani Cholakians.
California Highway Patrol said that at roughly 4:30 a.m., the truck collided with the sedan on the 60 Freeway in the eastbound lanes, close to Peck Road.
The truck, which had been carrying cantaloupe, fell below the freeway. Flames from the burning truck melted guardrails.
According to California Highway Patrol, the driver of each of the vehicles died at the accident scene.
