Driver Fleeing Police Crashes into Pole in Simi Valley, Cutting Power to Customers
SIMI VALLEY, CA (February 19, 2020) – On Monday night, a driver who was fleeing police crashed into a utility pole in Simi Valley, cutting power to customers. The February 17 crash occurred close to where Fitzgerald Avenue and Erringer Road intersect.
Reports say the incident began when an officer tried to pull a driver over for a traffic violation in the area of Los Angeles Avenue and Sycamore Road. The driver—who was in a vehicle described as a Lexus—did not stop, and later crashed near the Erringer Road and Fitzgerald Avenue intersection.
The Lexus struck a utility pole, reports say, cutting power to customers in the area.
Responders arrived and transported the driver to a hospital. The types of injuries his suffered, and his current condition, are not known.
