Driver Hits Customer and Gas Pump at Station in Seal Beach, Causing Explosion and Injuries
SEAL BEACH, CA (February 12, 2019) – A driver hit and injured a customer at a Chevron station Sunday night in Seal Beach, and struck a gas pump, which exploded. The February 10 accident occurred at 2950 Westminster Boulevard.
The time was roughly 11:30 p.m.
According to police, the driver had been heading north on Seal Beach Boulevard before he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the gas station, hitting the customer and the gas pump.
The identity of the victim, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not yet been reported. Reports say the person’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening. No details have been reported on the types of injuries the victim suffered, or the person’s current condition.
Police arrested the driver—identified as James Chang, 44 years old and a resident of Huntington Beach—on suspicion of DUI. The type of vehicle Chang was driving has not been described. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the details regarding the accident.
