Man Who Died in Collision Near Santa Paula is Identified
SANTA PAULA, CA (September 11, 2018) – A man who died in a collision on Friday night close to Santa Paula was identified.
The victim was Santiago Melchor Reyes, a 26-year-old resident of Santa Paula, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said. Officials pronounced him deceased at the accident scene.
The collision occurred where Briggs Road and Santa Paul Street intersect, in an area to the west of Santa Paul that is not incorporated. The time was roughly a little after 9:00 p.m.
Reyes had been heading north on Briggs and did not stop at a stop sign located at Santa Paula Street, according to California Highway Patrol. His vehicle was hit broadside by another vehicle that had been heading east on Santa Paula Street.
The impact from the crash trapped Reyes inside the vehicle. Responders pronounced him deceased at the accident scene.
Responders took the person who had been traveling in the vehicle with Reyes, and also the person who had been driving the other vehicle, to the hospital.
