Man Struck and Killed Running Across Telegraph Road in Santa Fe Springs
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (September 20, 2019) – Ricky Munoz was struck and killed while running across a road in Santa Fe Springs early in the morning on Wednesday. The September 18 incident occurred on Telegraph Road close to Pioneer Boulevard, in the 11700 block.
The time was roughly 1:00 a.m.
Munoz is reported to have run into the street after an alleged argument at a pub. He was struck by a vehicle that had been passing by.
Munoz died at the accident site. He was 22 years old and a resident of Long Beach.
The driver remained at the accident scene. The driver has not been identified.
Reports say that prior the Munoz running into the street, two other men are alleged to have been involved in an altercation with him, according to John Scoggins. Scoggins is an officer with Whittier Police.
Authorities later located the suspects and arrested them on suspicion of murder. The suspects were identified as Anthony Edward Varela, 21 years old and a resident of Montebello; and Kyle Michael Guinea-Mangubat, 21 years old and resident of Pico Rivera.
