Two Semis Collide on Highway 14 in the Santa Clarita Valley, Blocking All Lanes
SANTA CLARITA VALLEY, CA (July 3, 2019) – On Tuesday morning, two semi trucks collided on Highway 14 in the the Santa Clarita Valley, blocking all lanes. The July 2 incident occurred on the freeway’s northbound side, close to the exit for Soledad Canyon Road and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 6:15 a.m., Brian Stevens said. Stevens is an inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
According to Eric Priessman, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, one of the big rigs had jackknifed. All of the lanes of the freeway on the northbound side were blocked. Reports say the road had spilled gravel on it, but it is not clear from reports which vehicle was transporting that material.
Reports do not say if anyone was injured in the incident. Neither of the drivers of the big rigs have been identified, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
No details are known regarding why the collision happened. Investigators are examining the information to understand what circumstances and sequence of events played a role.
