Suspect Flees After Smashing into Three Santa Ana Police Vehicles
SANTA ANA, CA (May 8, 2020) – A suspect fled late in the morning on Monday after smashing into three Santa Ana police vehicles. The May 4 incident occurred in the Pueblo Motel parking lot, which is located at 1501 N. Harbor Boulevard.
The time was roughly 11:00 a.m., according to Santa Ana Police.
Reports say the police department’s gang detectives had been in the process of talking with the suspect–identified as Maximiliano Osorio, 23 years old–while they were looking into a report of a pickup truck that was stolen. According to reports, Osorio did not respond to their instructions, and he began to drive the pickup truck.
Reports say video recorded of the incident captured the pickup gaining in speed as it traveled toward the position where detectives were waiting in the parking lot of the motel. According to police, Osorio smashed into three police vehicles on purpose while fleeing the scene.
Authorities found the stolen pickup in Garden Grove. Inside, reports say, was methamphetamine in an amount of over 100 grams.
Authorities are searching for Osorio; the charges he faces include assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer; felony hit-and-run; narcotics violations; and auto theft. He was on Post Release Community Supervision for an earlier incident, described as assault with a deadly weapon, when the current incident occurred.
