Victims ID’ed in Sunday Morning Santa Ana Crash
SANTA ANA, CA (February 19, 2019) – Jose Alberto Avila-Rosas, Ziomara Zaragoza, Antonio Alonso Santibanez, and Prisma Yuliana Montoya were identified as the victims who were killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver. The February 17 accident occurred where Tustin Avenue and Fourth Street intersect.
The time was roughly a bit before 3:00 a.m.
Avila-Rosas had been the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck, according to the Santa Ana Police, and the other three victims were traveling with him as passengers. A Jeep, reports say, drove at a fast speed through a light that was red, and hit the pickup truck.
Two Good Samaritans—identified as Priscilla and Peter Aguilar, both residents of Corona—attempted to help the victims in the vehicles that had overturned. The Aguilars were described as an emergency room nurse, and a West Covina Fire Department paramedic.
Respondents arrived and pronounced the people who had been traveling in the pickup truck deceased at the accident scene. Avila-Rosas was 31 and a resident of Santa Ana; Zaragoza was 23 and a resident of Garden Grove; Santibanez was 23 and a resident of Orange; Montoya was 34, and a resident of Santa Ana.
Respondents took the Jeep’s driver—identified as Vincent Michael Calvo, 28 years old and a resident of Buena Park—to the hospital. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Investigators are looking into the incident’s details.
