Vehicles Parked at Apartment Complex in San Marcos Struck by Suspected DUI, Hit-and-run Driver
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 30, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a number of vehicles that were parked at an apartment complex in San Marcos were struck by a suspected DUI, hit-and-run driver. The January 30 incident occurred on S. Twin Oaks Valley Road in the 600 block, at the Prominence Luxury Apartments.
The time was roughly 2:00 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s office.
Reports say people who witnessed the incident saw a vehicle—described as an SUV—traveling through the parking lot of the apartment complex and striking a number of vehicles that were parked. The SUV stalled for a little bit, and then continued forward and struck additional vehicles before coming to a stop.
According to reports, a bystander saw the person who had been driving the vehicle exit and flee on foot into one of the apartments at the complex. Deputies arrived and witnesses gave them information on the location of the suspect.
Deputies arrested the suspect driver on suspicion of DUI. The identity of the driver, including his name and age, has not been reported.
None of the owners of the vehicles that were struck have been identified in reports. According to reports, as many as 11, and possibly more, vehicles were struck at the apartment complex.
Investigators are working to collect details and information about the incident.
