Driver Fleeing Police Crashes into San Marcos High School Fence
SAN MARCOS, CA (February 14, 2020) – A driver who was fleeing police early in the morning on Friday crashed in San Marcos, striking a fence at the high school. The crash occurred at 1615 W. San Marcos Boulevard close to Rancho Sante Fe Road, which is the address of San Marcos High School.
Reports say the incident began when police started to pursue a vehicle in Carlsbad at roughly 1:30 a.m. The reason for the pursuit has not been reported.
According to reports, officers lost sight of the vehicle. Not long after, the vehicle that had been pursued smashed into a fence at San Marcos High, reports say.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver from the wrecked vehicle. Responders then transported the driver to a hospital.
The injuries he suffered were described as minor. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are working to collect information, details, and evidence regarding the incident.
