Wrong-way Crash on State Route 94 in San Diego Causes Injuries; DUI Suspected
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 9, 2021) – Early in the morning on Monday in San Diego, a wrong way crash involving a driver suspected of DUI caused injuries. The March 8 incident occurred on State Route 94 on the eastbound side of the roadway, close to Federal Boulevard.
The time was roughly a little after 3:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Nissan Altima, black in color–was heading the wrong way, going westbound in the lanes that head east on State Route 94, according to authorities. The Nissan was reported to have collided with a Volkswagen head on.
Responders arrived and transported the driver of each vehicle to the hospital. The patients suffered injuries that were described as moderate, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities arrested the person who had been driving the Nissan on suspicion of DUI. The identity of the driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The identity of the driver of the Volkswagen has also not been reported. The current condition of the patient is not known.
Investigators are continuing their work to collect information about the crash.
