Vehicle Kills Pedestrian on University Avenue in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 26, 2020) – On Monday night, a man who was crossing the street near San Diego’s North Park area was struck and killed by a vehicle. The August 24 incident occurred on University Avenue, in the area between 36th Street and 37th Street.
The time was roughly a little before 7:40 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
The pedestrian had been walking across University Avenue, not within a crosswalk, when a vehicle–described as a Nissan Maxima–struck him, according to Buttle. Responders arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the incident site.
He was identified only as 46 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The driver stayed at the accident site and cooperated with investigators. She was identified only as 52 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to gather information and details about the crash.
