Trolley in San Diego Hits Two People Riding Scooters, Seriously Injuring One
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 24, 2018) – Two people riding scooters were hit by a trolley in San Diego in the evening on Tuesday. The October 23 accident occurred in the Logan Heights neighborhood, according to police.
The time was rougly 6:25 p.m.
Reports say the accident occurred close to 24th Street and Commercial Street, roughly one block to the west of a trolley station of the Metropolitan Transit System, Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with the San Diego Police.
Two people had been riding on scooters in between two tracks for the trolley at the time the accident happened, according to Sergeant Joe Ruvido. Because the accident occurred in the area between tracks, Ruvido said, it is not in the jurisdiction of the police department.
Responders arrived on scene and took one of the victims—identified as a man—to Hillcrest’s UCSD Medical Center. His injuries were described as significant. The other victim—described as a woman—suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders took her to Scripps Mercy Hospital.
No other details have yet been reported on the accident.
