Suspect Fleeing Police Pursuit Collides with Family’s Vehicle in San Diego, Causing Injuries

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 6, 2019) – On Tuesday night in San Diego, the driver of a car that was suspected stolen collided with a family’s vehicle while fleeing police pursuit. People in both vehicles were injured in the November 5 incident, which occurred in the area of Emerald Hills, where Pitta Street and Market Street intersect.

The time was roughly 9:45 p.m., according to San Diego Police.

Reports say officers attempted to pull a vehicle over that was traveling fast in the vicinity of Market Street and Euclid Avenue. The driver would not stop.

Police pursued the vehicle, and the vehicle collided with another vehicle—described as an SUV—where Pitta Street and Market Street intersect.

Responders arrived and transported five people who had been in the SUV to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The victims were identified as a wife, husband, and three children.

The types of injuries the five victims suffered were described as minor. The names of the victims, and their city of residence, have not been reported.

According to reports, the person who had been driving the vehicle that was suspected stolen was not conscious after the collision. Responders took the driver to the hospital. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Responders also took two people who had been traveling with the suspect as passengers to the hospital. The types of injuries the two people suffered have not been described. Their current condition is not known. Their identities have not been reported.

Reports say the suspected stolen vehicle did not have a license plate at the time of the incident. Investigators are collecting details, information, and evidence to understand the circumstances of the incident.
