Suspect Fleeing Authorities in Stolen Car Crashes into Patrol Vehicle in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 11, 2020) – A suspect who was fleeing pursuit by authorities in San Diego crashed a stolen car into a patrol vehicle, and fled on foot. The February 9 incident occurred in San Diego’s College Grove Plaza.
The time was roughly 10:00 a.m., the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Reports say deputies saw a car that was believed to be stolen and tried to stop the driver. The driver of the suspected stolen car smashed into another car, and then crashed into a patrol vehicle, according to the San Diego County Sheriff.
The suspect then fled on foot. Authorities apprehended the suspect not long after. Responders transported him to the hospital with injuries that were described as minor.
The suspect, whose identity has not been reported, was arrested.
According to reports, deputies were not injured in the crash.
A description of the car that was struck by the suspect, as well as a description of the stolen car, have not been reported. The owners of the vehicles have not been identified in reports.
Investigators are continuing their work to gather information and evidence.
