Pedestrian Killed on I-15 in Rancho Bernardo Area of San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 12, 2019) – A person walking on I-15 was struck and killed in the early morning on Friday in San Diego’s Rancho Bernardo neighborhood. The July 12 incident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, near West Bernardo Drive, and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 4:00 a.m., according to Jim Bettencourt. Bettencourt is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say multiple vehicles may have hit the pedestrian, who was identified only as a man. The victim’s name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
It is not yet known why the person had been walking on the freeway. No details are known about what vehicle or vehicles hit the person, or the identities of any driver who may have been involved in the incident.
Reports do not say exactly where the person had been walking when he was hit. Investigators are examining the details and working to understand why the incident occurred.
