Pedestrian Injured by Hit-and-run Driver at Orange and Central Avenue in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 18, 2020) – A pedestrian was injured by a hit-and-run driver on Friday night in San Diego. The August 14 incident occurred in the neighborhood of Teralta West, where Central Avenue and Orange Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 10:15 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
The victim was walking across the road when a vehicle–which had been heading eastbound on Orange Avenue–made a turn to Central Avenue. The vehicle hit the man.
According to reports, the driver put the vehicle in reverse, backed away, and drove off. The vehicle was described as a 4-door sedan, light in color. It may have been a Pontiac G6.
Responders arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. The injuries he suffered were described as a broken leg.
He was identified only as 69 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the suspect driver, who has not been described, and the vehicle. They are collecting information regarding the crash.
