Woman Fatally Injured by Vehicle While Walking on Sidewalk in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 27, 2019) – Nang Arm was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle early in the morning on Sunday as she was walking on a sidewalk in San Diego. After she was taken off life support on Monday, Arm died, the San Diego County Medical Examiner said.
The August 25 incident occurred in the Rancho Penasquitos area, on Black Mountain Road in the 13700 block close to Carmel Mountain Road. The time was roughly 7:07 a.m., according to Robert Hawkins. Hawins is a sergeant with the San Diego Police.
Reports say Arm had been on a sidewalk when a vehicle—described as a Nissan Sentra—which had been southbound on Black Mountain Road swerved and traveled onto the sidewalk. The Nissan hit a fence and hit the victim.
The Nissan continued down the road and struck a water line before stopping. The person who had been driving the vehicle left it, and walked from the incident site.
Good Samaritans tried to help Arm as well as responders. Responders transported Arm to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. Arm had been fatally injured.
Authorities located the driver of the Nissan, identified as Uvelyn Nunez-Jaramillo, 20 years old. Two other occupants had been in the vehicle when it crashed. The other people have not been identified, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
Authorities arrested Nunez-Jaramillo on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and felony hit and run.
