Man Identified as Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle on Mira Mesa Boulevard in San Diego
CARLSBAD, CA (October 31, 2019) – John Fitzpatrick was identified by authorities as the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Mira Mesa early in the morning on Monday. The October 28 incident occurred on Mira Mesa Boulevard near Black Mountain Road and to the west of it.
The time was roughly a little before 6:30 a.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say Fitzpatrick had been going across Mira Mesa Boulevard on foot when a vehicle—described as an Acura—which had been traveling west, hit him.
Responders arrived and pronounced Fitzpatrick deceased at the accident site, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. He was 87 years old.
The person who had been driving the vehicle was identified as a man 21 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to gather information and details regarding the accident.
