Hit-and-run Driver Seriously Injures Man in San Diego’s Kensington Area
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 13, 2020) – Last Tuesday, a hit-and-run driver seriously injured a man, and yesterday, police reached out to the public for help with information about the incident. The May 5 crash occurred where El Cajon Boulevard and Copeland Drive intersect in the Kensington area of San Diego.
The time was roughly 7:00 p.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say the pedestrian–identified only as a man 56 years old–had been walking across Copeland Avenue within a crosswalk. A driver, who went through a light that was red, hit the man, San Diego Police said.
The suspect driver did not stop to help the victim, but left the incident site. The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a Ford Explorer, white in color, with a passenger side mirror that is missing. The driver has not been described.
The victim suffered injuries that were life threatening, reports say. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
