Driver Suspected of Hit-and-run and DUI Injures Man on Blix Street in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 1, 2019) – On Saturday morning, a man who was standing beside a parked vehicle on Blix Street in San Diego was paralyzed when a moving vehicle struck. The September 28 incident occurred in the 7400 block, in the Clairemont Mesa East neighborhood.
The time was roughly 9:00 a.m., according to Officer S. Foster who is with the San Diego Police Department.
Reports say a vehicle was heading north on Blix Street and hit a vehicle that was parked. A man, who owned the parked vehicle, had been standing beside it. When the moving vehicle struck the parked vehicle, it sent the parked vehicle into the man. The force of the strike shoved him to the ground.
Responders arrived and found that the man was paralyzed from the chest down. The man also suffered an injury to his forehead.
Responders transported him to the hospital. His current condition is not known. He was identified only as 61 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The driver of the vehicle is alleged to have returned to her home, which reports say was eight houses down the road. Authorities arrested her not long after the incident.
According to reports, the driver is suspected of hit-and-run and driving under the influence (DUI). She was identified only as 39 years old. Her name has not been reported.
Investigators are working to gather details, information, and evidence regarding the incident.
