Driver Strikes Van in San Diego; Flees on Foot, Leaving Two Seriously Injured Passengers
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 24, 2020) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a driver crashed into a parked vehicle in San Diego and fled on foot, leaving behind two passengers with serious injuries. The July 22 incident occurred in the area of City Heights, on Fairmount Avenue in the 3100 block, near Thorn Street and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 12:10 a.m., according to Tony Martinez. Martinez is an officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say a driver had been traveling north on Fairmount Avenue in a vehicle described as a Nissan Sentra. For reasons that are not known, the vehicle went out of the driver’s control. The Nissan hit a sign, and smashed into a Mercedes-Benz van that was parked on the road.
The driver ran from the incident site, leaving behind two passengers who were seriously injured. One passenger, who had been seated in the front, suffered injuries that included an arm that was broken, head injuries that were described as serious, and hip and shoulder injuries. The current condition of the victim is not known.
The victim was identified only as a woman 19 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the driver who left the crash site. She has not been described or identified in reports.
