Collision on Carmel Valley Road in San Diego Kills Elderly Man
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 7, 2019) – On Sunday night, a collision in San Diego killed an elderly man. The October 6 incident occurred where Carmel Valley Road and El Camino Real intersect.
The time was roughly 9:40 p.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Honda CRV—had been traveling west on Carmel Valley Road on a green light. Another vehicle—described as a tow truck—which had been heading south on El Camino Real, went through a light that was red, according to reports. The tow truck hit the Honda broadside.
Responders arrived and transported two victims from the Honda to a hospital. The passenger in the vehicle—identified only as a man 81 years old—suffered injuries that were described as serious. The elderly man died in the hospital. His identity, including name and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Honda—identified only as a woman 72 years old—suffered injuries that have not been described. Her current condition is not known. Her identity, including name and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the tow truck was not hurt in the incident, according to reports. The person stayed at the incident site and cooperated with the investigation.
