San Bernardino Crash on Tippecanoe Ave, Kills Pedestrian
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (November 9, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a pedestrian was struck and killed in San Bernardino. The November 5 incident occurred on Tippecanoe Avenue at Davidson Street.
The time was roughly a little after 5:45 a.m., San Bernardino Police said.
Two people had been crossing Tippecanoe Avenue on foot in an area that is dark, reports say. A vehicle–described as a Chevrolet Silverado–struck one of the pedestrians.
Reports say that the victim walked into the path of the approaching vehicle. According to police, the second pedestrian had stopped when the pickup truck approached.
The driver remained at the incident site and called for help. Responders arrived on scene.
The victim died at the scene of the crash. He was identified only as 66 years old and a resident of San Bernardino. His name has not been reported.
The second pedestrian has not been identified.
The driver was identified as Brian Phelps, a resident of Grand Terrace, 48 years old.
