Vehicle Smashes into Tribal Building in Riverside County During Funeral; 8 Injured
THERMAL, CA (December 27, 2019) – Late in the afternoon on Thursday in the Riverside County area of Thermal, a vehicle smashed into a tribal building and injured eight people. The December 26 incident occurred on Martinez Road in the 66000 block.
The time was roughly a little after 5:00 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a funeral service was being held in a tribal hall, and a vehicle—described as an SUV—smashed into the building, and went inside.
Responders arrived and took eight people to hospitals in the area. The identities of the injured people have not been reported, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
The types of injuries the victims suffered, and their current condition, is also not known.
Reports say that one of the victims suffered injuries that were described as serious. Three victims suffered injuries that were described as moderate. Four victims suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The driver of the SUV has not been identified, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known why the vehicle crashed.
The building had much damage as a result of the crash. The extent of the damage has not been reported.
