Suspect Fleeing Police in Riverside Crashes into Parked Cars, Escapes on Foot Near Festival of Lights
RIVERSIDE, CA (December 24, 2018) – A person who police suspect of vehicle theft led a chase Saturday night in Riverside, crashing into cars parked on the street before escaping on foot. The December 23 incident occurred near the Festival of Lights.
According to Lt. Paul Stella, the suspect was chased by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies about 10:30 pm., and then Rialto Police took over the pursuit. The pursuit led into the city of Riverside. Ryan Railsback, who is an officer with Riverside Police, said the vehicle driven by the suspect crashed into cars that were parked at the Riverside Convention Center. The vehicle pursuit ended at Main Street and 5th Street, a block from the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa.
The suspect ran away and blended into the crowds after getting rid of some clothes. Riverside Police helped Rialto Police officers as they looked for the suspect. The suspect was not located. A description of the suspect has not yet been reported.
No one was reported injured in the incident. Investigators are examining the incident details.
