Head-on Collision on Main Street in Riverside Injures Multiple Victims
RIVERSIDE, CA (October 21, 2019) – A head-on collision Sunday night in Riverside injured multiple victims, including a child four years of age who was critically injured. The October 20 incident occurred on Main Street close to Garner Road.
The time was roughly 10:42 p.m., according to Erich Feimer. Feimer is a sergeant with the Riverside Police.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Dodge van—had been traveling on Main Street and heading south. The Dodge went into the lanes of opposing traffic and collided with another vehicle—described as a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Responders arrived and transported multiple victims to hospitals in the area. One victim—identified as a child—suffered an injury described as a significant brain bleed. According to police, the child had been traveling in the rear of the Dodge and was not restrained in a children’s safety seat.
The identities of the all the victims have not been reported, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is not known what types of injuries the victims suffered, or their current condition. Reports to do say in which vehicle every person had been traveling, nor the exact number of people involved.
The person who had been driving the Dodge was identified as a woman 38 years old and a resident of Riverside.
The person who had been driving the Chevrolet was identified as a woman 49 years old and a resident of Pomona.
Investigators are continuing their work to understand what circumstances were factors in the crash. At this time, it is not known from reports why the van crossed into the lane of opposing traffic.
