Driver Suspected of Road Rage Crash in Riverside Smashes Other Driver’s Window with Bat
RIVERSIDE, CA (February 27, 2019) – A driver suspected of road rage crashed into another vehicle in Riverside on Monday night, and then smashed the other driver’s car window with a bat. The February 25 incident occurred near Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard.
The time was roughly 10:50 p.m.
According to the Riverside Police Department, Tamer Rabadi had been driving fast when he came up on a vehicle and attempted to pass it. Police said that Rabadi crashed, unintentionally, into the vehicle he was passing. The crash stopped both vehicles.
Authorities said that after the crash, Rabadi exited his vehicle and walked over to the victim while carrying a bat. According to police, Rabadi struck and broke the window on the victim’s driver door, almost hitting the victim’s head with the bat.
Reports say that the victim sprayed Rabadi with pepper spray, then made a call to police. The pepper spray prevented Rabadi from leaving the scene of the incident. Officers arrested Rabadi—identified as 28 years old—on assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
The identity of the victim in the vehicle that was struck has not been reported, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling with the victim at the time of the incident. Whether the victim was injured in the incident is not yet known from reports. The investigation in continuing.
