They have developed a computerized obstacle course to test older drivers.
AARP opposes tests based on age but is not opposed to increased testing for all ages.
By age 80, over half of drivers are classified as high risk drivers.
The computerized obstacle course can also be used to train drivers to lower their risk levels.
The research team suggested that a training course may enable more seniors to keep their driving privileges.
