Bicyclist Dies After Colliding with Vehicle in Redlands
REDLANDS, CA (March 13, 2019) – A bicyclist died in the morning on Tuesday after colliding with a vehicle in Redlands. The March 12 accident occurred on Sand Canyon Road.
The time was roughly 10:52 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a bicyclist—identified as a man—had been riding west on Sand Canyon, in an area close to Crafton Avenue and to the east of it. The bicyclist was traveling behind a vehicle—described as a Honda Accord—that had been heading the same way.
The bicyclist collided with the Honda when the Honda made a U-turn in the bicyclist’s path, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol. Respondents took the man, who suffered serious injuries, to a hospital in the area. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital. The victim, whose name and age have not been reported, was a resident of Reno, Nevada.
The person who had been driving the Honda was identified as a woman who is a resident of Yucaipa. Her name and age have not been reported. It is not known from reports if anyone had been traveling in the vehicle as a passenger at the time of the accident.
Investigators are examining the details to understand why the crash happened. No other details have been reported at this time.
