Vehicle Crashes and Overturns on I-15 in Rancho Bernardo; One Killed, One Injured

RANCHO BERNARDO, CA (March 4, 2020) – Early in the morning on Tuesday, a rollover crash in Rancho Bernardo on I-15 killed one person and injured another. The March 3 incident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, near Rancho Bernardo Road and to the north of it.

The time was roughly 12:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and to people who witnessed the incident.

Reports say the car went out of the driver’s control, for reasons that are not known, traveled off the roadway and up an embankment, slid down, and overturned. The crash threw two occupants from the car.

Responders arrived and pronounced one person deceased at the incident site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Responders transported the other person to a hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered, and the current condition, are not known. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

It is not known who the driver of the vehicle had been.

Investigators are gathering information to understand why the crash happened.
