Hit-and-run Driver Injures Bicyclist on State Route 67 in Ramona
RAMONA, CA (October 3, 2019) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a hit-and-run driver injured a bicyclist on State Route 67 in Ramona. The October 2 incident occurred close to Dye Road, on the side of the road that heads north.
The time was roughly a little before 6:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the bicyclist had been riding on the road’s shoulder, and a vehicle—described as a Ford Edge—went into the shoulder and hit her. The impact of the collision threw the bicyclist, and she hit the road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, after the SUV hit the bicycle and the rider, the bicycle was wedged onto the front of the vehicle. The SUV continued traveling down the road and after some distance, the bicycle fell off the vehicle.
Responders arrived and transported the injured woman to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center. The injuries she suffered were described as major. Her identity, including name and city of residence, has not been reported.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the SUV bears a California license plate which reads 8KPJ239. Investigators are looking for the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident.
