Hit-and-run Driver Kills Woman on Pershing Drive in Playa Del Rey

PLAYA DEL REY, CA (February 13, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Playa Del Rey. The February 13 incident occurred on Pershing Drive, close to the intersection with Campdell Street.

The time was roughly 1:16 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police.

Reports say the woman had exited a business in the area accompanied by a friend. The victim had been showing the friend a new skateboard when a vehicle hit her, according to Brian Wendling. Wendling is a captain with the Los Angeles Police.

According to Wendling, the woman fell onto a curb after the vehicle hit her. The person driving the vehicle left the scene, and did not help the victim.

Responders arrived and pronounced the woman deceased at the incident site. She was identified only as 49 years of age. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved—which may have been an Audi, black in color—and the driver. The driver has not been described. Investigators are continuing to collect information and evidence.
