One Person Killed, Another Injured in Crash on Highway 126 Near Piru
PIRU, CA (November 21, 2018) – A collision involving multiple vehicles in the afternoon on Tuesday near Piru killed one person and injured another. The November 20 accident occurred on Highway 126 close to Hopper Canyon, in between Piru and Fillmore.
The time was roughly 4:30 p.m.
According to Marco Marin, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, it appeared from the details at the accident scene that a Hyundai had been traveling east on the highway. For reasons that are not known, the Hyundai veered into the lanes that head west. It collided with a Ford F550 truck head on.
The person who had been driving the Hyundai died. The person who had been driving the work truck suffered injuries that were described as major. Responders took the victim to a trauma center in the area.
After the collision occurred, three other vehicles crashed. Reports say that the occupants in the three subsequent vehicles were not injured, or they did not want medical attention.
The identities of the people involved in the accident have not yet been reported.
Investigators are examining the information to find out why the accident happened.
