Hit-and-run Driver Arrested for Injuring Four Pedestrians In Perris
PERRIS, CA (August 28, 2018) – Four pedestrians—all members of the same family—were struck by a hit-and-run driver in Perris. According to deputies with Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the driver—a man from Moreno Valley—was arrested.
Witnesses had seen the Saturday accident take place in a parking lot, and surrounded the driver and a passenger. Authorities then arrested the man a little after 3:44 p.m.
The driver was identified as Daniel Franco, a 19 year old. Deputies arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol resulting in injury, and also hit-and-run driving involving injury.
As the family of four exited a market on Perris Boulevard in the 1600 block, they were hit by a vehicle described as a white Chevrolet Camaro. Deputies reported that Franco had been driving the vehicle, and a passenger was traveling with him.
According to the report, the family members suffered non-life threatening and moderate injuries.
Witnesses saw the hit-and-run driver continue driving and hit a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot.
Responders took the injured family members to Riverside University Healthcare Systems. Responders also took Franco, and the person who was traveling with him, to the hospital as they had suffered minor injuries.
Investigators suspect that Franco was under the influence of alcohol, drugs, and inhalants, according to deputies. He was taken to Southwest Detention Center.
