Multi-vehicle Collision on Highway 46 Near Paso Robles Causes Damage
PASO ROBLES, CA (June 2, 2020) – On Friday night, a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 46 near Paso Robles caused damage. The May 29 incident occurred at the highway’s intersection with Union Road.
The time was roughly 7:43 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say an officer with the Templeton area office of the California Highway Patrol had been stopped at a stop sign at the intersection and waiting to make a turn. A vehicle, described as a Nissan Altima, had been heading east on the highway.
The driver of the Nissan, reports say, thought he was about to go through a stop sign upon seeing the stopped patrol vehicle. The Nissan’s driver applied his brakes. The driver of the vehicle behind the Nissan swerved to miss the Nissan.
The vehicle that swerved, described as a Honda CR-V, collided with Chevrolet Silverado. The impact sent the Chevrolet spinning, and it struck the patrol vehicle.
No one was reported injured in the incident.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as Nicholas McCollum, a resident of Citrus Heights, 21 years old.
The driver of the Honda was identified as Margarita Santiago, a resident of Paso Robles, 47 years old.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Louis Carlos, a resident of San Luis Obispo 25 years old.
The officer who was driving the patrol vehicle was identified as Officer Denker.
Investigators are working to collect information and details regarding the sequence of events that contributed to the crash.
